Now, before you start this one you might want to get yourself a brew. I’m about to start rambling.
It’s time for a confession.
I’m not really a fan of riding in autumn and winter. By the time Cheddar/Polaris/The Three Peaks comes around I’m sick of riding round in ever decreasing circles. Wet and grim(e) wear their […]

Taking time off work to go ride somehow feels better than a ride at a weekend. Fewer riders out on the trails to start with and when you pick your destination you can be guaranteed solitude, all sugared with the thought of colleagues sitting at desks in the post-Christmas back to work shock.
Avoiding the honeypots […]

It’s been a long busy weekend, what with rides and races, so there’s much to catch up on. For the sake of reading I’m going to break it down into manageable chunks.
The weekend started on Thursday last, with an offer to ride the Singletrack Magazine test Turner Flux to give them some 5 Spot/Burner […]

Plenty of Room
Another weekend, another long ride out together. Since I broke the rear hub of my hardtail we are either out on horribly mismatched bikes, a Pompino and a geared Spot, or fat-tyred full suspension behemoths.

I stumbled across the Mark, Ruth and a pair of Pompinos blog the other day, which has been a right good read as they say around here.
It even had my loins stirring for a bit of lightweight cycle touring, something I’ve not done for nearly ten years now.
Read it, and be inspired.

Turns out Sundays ride took my mileage for this year past last years pitiful, if excusable, total.
“Wooh!” and indeed “Yeah!” as I imagine excitable Californians might say.

The ingredients for todays ride.
I woke up late and with all the faff of getting ready for the ride I ended up going out of the door with no more sustenance than a cup of strong black coffee.
I wanted to try samuri’s Block The Bike route.
It was one of the steepest climbs I’ve tackled in […]

Kirsty wants to get her race shape back.
Since she hung up her racing wheels after the 2003 Dusk ‘Til Dawn to continue on eventing she’s not really missed the biking much.
She loves to ride my old Turner Burner for the odd fun ride, and she happily comes to races to act as groom/support, but she’s […]

It doesn't update from the wheels of steel though :-)
Remember kids, vinyl can't carry Digital Rights Management.

in no particular order...

For all that we like the up-to-the minute offerings of the web there‚s nothing like a proper badly photocopied A5 fanzine or a glossily printed proper magazine to keep you occupied on the throne. Here, in no particular order, is our material of choice.

Singletrack

The Outcast

Dirt Rag
