Fetch Me My Rifle

More Shoes Than In Her Wardrobe
I intend to test the old adage that you can’t live with them, and you can’t shoot them.
We set out yesterday intending to do the Tour de Coniston - a roadie bimble around the lake stopping for ice cream in Coniston itself. Kirsty’s old Giro E2 has started leaving strange marks on her forehead as the pads have given up the ghost. So on the way up the motorway I suggested we pop into Wheelbase to see if they had something. Without looking at any price tags she managed to find the most expensive Giro on the shop, declaring everything else just not quite comfortable enough. I’m sure that Alastair Darling will commend me for trying to kick start the economy single-handed.
Once we managed to clear the hordes at Bowness we parked up at a relatively deserted Rigg Wood, and had a pleasant ride around the lake. Cumberland sausage & apple sauce sarnies at the Bluebird cafe in Coniston went down well followed by ace ice creams in the middle of the village eaten under the shade of the trees by the Donald Campbell memorial.
But now that we are home someone is complaining that her road shoes aren’t stiff enough and she’s browsing online shops for carbon-soled goodies in white!
