Levelled by BOB

Intervals (shush!) have revealed that I currently have more fitness than Kirsty.

So today, with a ten mile trip to the stables in the offing, things needed evening out. As we only have two properly road suitable bikes - the Lemond and the Pompino - she could have opted for gears. But, fickle thing that she is, she doesn’t like the Lemond, and prefers the Pompino.

Rather than carry everything in courier bags I decided to shove all our stuff into the BOB trailer instead. Which happened to be a good idea once I saw how much stuff she wanted to take ;-)

I should have known things were not going to go my way when we stopped at a set of lights after the first uphill, and a voice behind me told me to “stop using girly gears”!

At the second hill a shadow drew up alongside me. On the third hill her patience gave way and she came sprinting past me. The chase was on, for another eight miles into a headwind to boot.

I got an arse kicking on the way home too, and we’ve got the same ride tomorrow. I’m making humble pie for Sunday lunch.

A dogs dinner of links to stuff that we have arranged in an apparently random manner, though I assure you it made sense at the time.
