Shafted by the iPod
Apropos of my claims that vinyl can’t carry DRM the fucktards at Apple have shafted me up the arse.
I installed a new software version (1.3) for the old iPod the other night which now righteously refuses to play any of the .mp3s I have created from my vinyl collection. Ironically the last step of creating these mp3s was to use iTunes to convert .aiff files prepared using Final Vinyl to .mp3.
So the iPod isn’t playing .mp3s created using Apple software.
Looks like I’m going to have to restore it to it’s original settings and undo the latest software update.

Problem solved by reconverting all the .aiff files. Fortunately I haven’t ripped a lot of vinyl, yet.
I suppose the moral is not to throw away the original recordings.

Update:
It appears that this is not just a problem for vinyl, but also for people exploiting the analogue hole.
There is a way round it though…
