Hurray For Hope

Hope Mechanical Disk Brake
My game of wheel chess commences. I’ve finally gotten round to phoning Hope Technology to get hold of a new splined spider for the mechanical disc brakes.

After rooting round in the basement they have come up trumps! Top chaps.

This will allow me to build up an old suspension front hub to work with the mechanical brakes.

To do that I need to either:

a) dismantle my Phil Wood front wheel to get at the Aeroheat Velocity rim, or

b) cheekymail a Velocity rim off MikeD, or

c) buy some new yellow Velocity rims off Tim and get out the NitroMors.

This may take some time.

Update

Retro Hope SpiderThe boys at Hope sent this out on Friday and it was waiting for me when we got back from Twentyfour12.

Wooh! and Yeah!

MikeD brought with him the long promised Velocity Aeroheat Deep V rim with him. I don’t need the aero capability off road, but it’s cutting through mud abilities are second to none.

An evening of rim swapping (not as rude or as much fun as it sounds), and some axle bashing (ditto) and the Swamp Donki will be back on the road, er, trail.

    Is that the Donkis Nob?

  2. MikeD Says:

    Apparently you’re racing this weekend - I’ll bring a rim :-)

  3. Nick Says:

Yes it is Brant. It’s got Hope disc mounts on it so Dave agreed to give it a slightly different name - Swamp Donki.

  4. brant Says:

Yes I know now, you cock, cos you told me in the car park last night.

Oh, and thanks for getting me home safely :-)

  5. Nick Says:

No worries, but it will cost you that 51 cm Pompino you promised me :-)
