Cobbled Corner
Kirsty wants to get her race shape back.
Since she hung up her racing wheels after the 2003 Dusk ‘Til Dawn to continue on eventing she’s not really missed the biking much.
She loves to ride my old Turner Burner for the odd fun ride, and she happily comes to races to act as groom/support, but she’s never shown any sign of missing racing.
Until now.
After Mayhem she started complaining about how much tone she’s lost.
Don’t get me wrong - she can do rising trot for hours on end so she’s not exactly splurged - but she hasn’t quite got the definition between her vastus lateralis and vastus medialis that she wants.
So she’s back on the bike.
Which means I have to find some suitable rides.
Yesterday we rode out to The Cobbled Corner Cafe.
Once there, bikes safely locked outside we confidently ordered two cream teas. On the menu as a selection of sandwiches, a scone, a selection of cakes and a pot of tea it was just what the doctor ordered. I mean, coffee is great before a ride, but half way round what you really really want is tea.
When it all arrived we were overfaced.
I blame the scone. A hint of shortbread to the base. Not too many raisins, Perfect.
By the time I was into the coffee cake though I was flagging. Kirsty failed to finish her chocolate cake.
Manfully I managed to, eventually, clear both plates.
I can see this being a popular ride destination.
