The Weather Continues Fine

The weather for SSMM is now on the forecasters horizons.
I could do with something cooler than currently predicted, and I wouldn’t even mind some rain. I can cope with cold/wet much better than hot/dry.

Sense Seen

An update to the story of the Dales Biking Centre Bid Opposed.
Yesterday the National Park planning committee gave it the thumbs up, just, by a vote of 9 to 8.
Good news, but, and there’s always a but, this is only a preliminary verdict.
The Committee have until July 11 to stew over all the evidence submitted, […]

The Biters Bit

I’ve had a longer look through the experiments proposed by the 29er faithful for the ultimate normalised 26 versus 29er test. This was in response to their criticism of the Cycling News comparison.
For all their whinging all bar one of them has failed to address all of the concerns that they themselves raised against […]

Dales Biking Centre Bid Opposed

The Swaledale branch of the CPRE are asking the Yorkshire Dales National Park to oppose plans by a local couple running a local cycle hire and leadership business to extend their facilities because it would allegedly “detract from a conservation area”.
I suspect that the demographics for CPRE supporters broadly matches the uncomeduns* that like to […]

Minimise The Variables

There’s yet another normalised 26 v 29er test going on.
I have some problems with this concept of normalisation.
For a start each bike is compromised. For instance they both have 71 degree head-angle! WTF will that do to the 29er steering? We don’t go out and buy deliberately compromised bikes, so it’s not fair to […]

I want my bicycle back

I never imagined that I’d post anything about the World Cup. I’m not talking Steve Peats domination of the downhill scene either, I am, yes, talking about that pointless activity of football. And my cuase for doing so is tenuous at best.
That was, until a Dutch insult that I’d last directed at Phaty and his […]

SSUK 2006

What a fantastic weekend at SSUK 2006 up in Hamsterley Forest. Pizza, beer, great mates, and a cracking course.
I got a lot of good-humoured ribbing about hating 29ers, which just goes to show that no matter how many times I say I can see some benefits of the concept people find it easier to […]

7eleven Cancelled

We’ve just heard that the 7eleven race the weekend of 17-18 June has been cancelled due to entry numbers. I’m guessing they were too low.
On the one hand I’m disappointed, on the other relieved that I’ll get some proper sleep the weekend before Mayhem.
Apparently the event will be run next year at a time that […]

SSUK On This Planet of Noise, Bimbo!

Off to SSUK this weekend.
See you there.
(Been listening to Tack>>Head Tape Time if you’re wondering about the title).

Support your LBS

Update
I was stupid enough to misread some ebay bidding activity as ’shill bidding’, where a trader uses an aliased account to bid on his own items putting the price up, and made some allegations against St John Street Cycles.
Well talk about being caught with egg on my face.
I was wrong.
I’d just like to apologise to […]
