I’ve just got up early to watch the Commonwealth Games.
Well done, not just to the English one-two of Killeen and Beckinsale but particularly to Jongewaard of Australia who set the early pace.
Dumbass quote of the commentary by Hugh Porter: “There’s a marathon version of this event where people ride for three or more hours”.
Three hours! […]

For the SSMM weekend I have a choice of, arranged in order that I became aware of the event:
1) SSMM
2) my brother-in-laws wedding
3) my sisters wedding
We can’t piss off no-one so we’re pissing of everyone and I’m racing. It’s also first come first served.
For what it’s worth I feel no guilt.

“I’ve left my shoes at home!”
Inspired by the home nations success on the track at the Commonwealth Games we were on our way out for a ride. Fortunately we were still only a few miles from home filling up on diesel, and unusually, not filling up on chocolate milkshake and tangfastics.
Grizedale, when we arrived […]

Yesterdays intervals hurt real bad.
Mentally I’m struggling to get back into the frame of mind needed just to keep spinning away and ignore the ache in my legs.
A couple minutes into interval one, and not coincidentally as I hit my level 3 threshold, I have the urge to give up. Why subject myself to this? […]

I sure hope sponsors of sport are considering how they go about their business and thinking what an opportunity they missed with Shelley Rudman, the woman who was self-funded to Britain’s best medal of the recent Winter Olympics.
While they (and the media) were all looking the other way and throwing money at our useless cricket, […]

My entry to Saab-Salomon Mountain Mayhem has just been confirmed.
It also came to my attention that a limited number of 24 hour solo entries for the TwentyFour-12 were on offer. So I applied. Within minutes I got an email back saying I can upgrade. Woot!
Thanks guys.

Intervals
I’ve started doing intervals again.
It’s been over a year since I last went through the ritual of setting up the turbo trainer and checking the slick on the back of the relevant bike is at 100psi.
I’d also forgotten how much it hurts.
I’ve decided that in order to try and quickly increase my maximum aerobic effort […]

Sundays ride was hard.
160bpm for over an hour into a headwind feeling tired and leaden legs. Turns out afterwards that I was doing OK speed wise.
Why does it never feel like that at the time?
I took a few photos while cycling, at least if I drop the cameraphone it’s cheaper than an SLR.

I saw this posted by Matt 2.4 the other day in response to someone complaining about the weight of his bike.
while($rider==”unhappy”) {
$rider = tinkerbike();
}
So yesterday I stripped my Psylos and gave them a little TLC. I’m embarrased by the lack of oil that came out of them!

We finally had snow yesterday. So far the weather has been passing to the South of us. It was proper powder snow too, so cold that it burns while you’re making snowballs. And what snowballs. The sort that explode on impact. The local kids have rolled a huge snowball in the park, though they’ve not […]

New! iPod updating courtesy of iScrobbler.
It doesn't update from the wheels of steel though :-)
Remember kids, vinyl can't carry Digital Rights Management.

For all that we like the up-to-the minute offerings of the web there‚s nothing like a proper badly photocopied A5 fanzine or a glossily printed proper magazine to keep you occupied on the throne. Here, in no particular order, is our material of choice.
