Holier Than Thou
As fuel prices creep over £1 a litre I am feeling smug.
All my working life I have either commuted by bike or car-shared. For the last few years especially.
It’s a shame that the economy relies on people having to commute stupid distances instead of being able to live close enough to walk to work. Living within walking distance of work/school/shops is perhaps the best example of “Think Global Act Local” there is, and one that really does make a great difference to your quality of life.
Who’s going to be laughing at my BOB trailer on Thursday when I can still get to my local shops? Not that there’ll be any bread, which after milk and unleaded is apparently the third most precious but undervalued commodity on the market.
Don’t give me pathetic “I need my car, I have a twenty mile commute, my nearest supermarket is three miles away and how will the kids get to school excuses”.
Get on your bike and ride.
