Repair or Repaint 2
Following my spit and polish job on the Hammer I sought advice on whether I should live with the state of the paint as is (patina), or have a respray.
Considered opinion, including that of at least one framebuilder, is to have it stripped to judge the state of the corrosion.
Seeing as the Hammer was a stop-gap until I had the Dave Yates Swamp Donki resprayed I figured that I might as well get my ass in gear and sort that out instead.
So I gave Dave Yates a call about the job. Seems his move is still ongoing so I might as well send it elsewhere for the respray. My choices boiled down to Bob Jackson or Mercian.
I’ve bought a new set of transfers from Dave, white oval, black lettering. Nice.
Then I set about choosing a colour. All I knew was I wanted blue, something like Dodger Blue*. Bob Jackson does a nice ‘petrol blue’. Mercian had a wider choice. Then I saw it.
Anquetil Blue.
What other reason do you need for choosing a colour than a perfect name? I mean, every time I ride I’ll know that it’s Anquetil Blue. How can I not be inspired to ride better.
* This does not indicate that I either know or care who the LA Dodgers are. It’s only Rounders FFS, a game usually played by girls.
