Need Some Training Help?
Turns out that there are a lot of mountain bikers doing some closet training on the side.
Following email requests for a copy of my own training planner, purely for research purposes of course, I’ve decided it would be simpler to just publish it here. It’s an Excel template so you’ll need Office to use the drop down boxes. It works with OpenOffice 1.1 but the User Interface isn’t so friendly - you need to enter session names directly, not select from a drop down because the selection lists are corrupted :-(
I’ll put some effort into a full blown OpenOffice conversion if there’s enough demand.
Actually Dave Jihad gave me the idea, so he should take the credit.
how to use it…
Either
a) save it wherever Office stores your templates (so that it shows up under File > New…)
b) save it somewhere convenient and double click on it.
It contains a macro that runs at start up to select the start date for the training - it tries to pick next Monday, and save it (based on your Office username and training date).
To use it select the session name for each day of the week from the dropdown, and it will fill in the rest of the session details. You can then overwite these manually, (especially Level 2 Rides).
It uses a scale of 1-4 for intensity:
1 - comfortable, low exertion
2 - hard aerobic
3 - anaerobic threshold
4 - lactic acid creation
It uses a 1-11 Borg scale for RPE.
Some of the rows are specific to my training (I’m asthmatic so keep records of peak flow, asthma drug use, etc)
There’s no protection on the macros or any hidden sheets, so you can modify it as you see fit, or mail me back with any good ideas for it. Not publishing email here, because if you need to find me, you will :-)
