Went to the local tip on Saturday to throw away several sacks of rubble. Was held up at the entrance for 10 minutes while all that days Washing Machines (design life now about 2 years apparently) were hoisted into the scrap metal skip. Man with huge great machine finishes job by crushing them for good measure.

Empty rubble into hardcore skip.

Inspect scrap metal skip as per usual - don’t laugh, I’ve found a decent front wheel and enough spares to fix the gears on my Chopper this way. Underneath a still pinking cast iron bath I spot a Rock Lobster head badge. Fish it out only to discover that over eager scrap man has just crushed the rear triangle.

Nooooooooooooo.

And it would have made a lovely winter hack :-(
