Tubeless and sealant for the fight against thorns. My skinny xc race tyres survived the Cape Epic and South African bloody great thorns. Hawthorns are just laughed at with trail tyres and a similar setup.

I think I always associate Trentham with SITS rather than Mayhem because they held more races there.

I was just intrigued why you chose SITS rather than MM to illustrate as MM was first and is a “bigger” event.

Indeed it was the original MM venue. And yes, it did piss down rather heavily. There are still banana stains in my Mint Sauce jersey pockets from that race. At the end I just stood in the shower in all my riding kit.

I’m mainly relying on a strada wireless now. Tried the phone again yesterday – battery lasted fine, it randomly decided to stop logging a few miles from home though.

I did have a garmin 205 but that died at the Hell of the North Cotswolds. I may get a Bryton Rider 35 to replace it if I ever have any spare money.

So what do you use to log your rides Simon? I only need a cheap GPS logger not something to guide me. I have OS Landranger maps for that. I did tease Jon about his average speed dropping since he went onto endomondo and his claims that it was because he kept forgetting to turn it off, but now I can see his routes I can see he does the same as you and it sites in the same place doing 0 mph for ages at the end of his rides.

I’ve given up logging miles on my phone with Endomondo. It kills the battery and I kept forgetting to stop/start it.
