Born.

1971

Red and blue tricycle. It’s front wheel drive.

1973

First chain driven tricycle. Learn to ride on two wheels, but seeing as only the right hand wheel has drive tend to go round in circles.

1975

Raleigh. One speed. Rod pull brakes.

1977

Cycling proficiency test.

1978

Too young for punk and jealous of all kids on Raleigh Tomahawks or Choppers.

1980

Wassell trials bike.

1982

10 speed racer. 24″ wheels.

1983

First trailer on the Tour of Mull.

1984

Racer loses drops and gets cast off Renthals.

1986

College.12 speed racer.

1989

Finish college. 12 speed tourer. Looks.

1990

First paycheque. 14 speed racer.

1991

Race road. It hurts. First mountain bike, a GT Karakoram.

1992

Race mountain bike. It hurts too.

1993

Lands End to John O’ Groats over 9 days.

1994

Dave Yates Swamp Donki. Still racing. Only slower.

1995

Cross bike. Trailquest.

1996

Convert GT to singlespeed. Polaris. On a tandem. Then again. With a trailer.

1997

Race tandem DH and XC, and with a BOB trailer, Polaris. First true singlespeed – Hello Uncle Tufty. First stab at the Three Peaks. It hurts most of all.

1998

Red Bull 24 hours. Get that Raleigh Chopper. Spot singlespeed.

1999

A quiet year.

2000

Outstock.

2001

Fixed Gear. and full suspension Turner

Bye Bye GT (given away), racer (no room), cross bike (bent), and tourer (nicked).

2002

First 24 hour solo.

2004

Maverick ML-7, Fan, stolen after 3 rides. It’s replaced by a Turner Five Spot
