Whippet Slippers

My old whippet slippers have been shot for a while, and on Monday as we rode out my wife asked if maybe I shouldn’t get some new shoes for the forthcoming Kielder 100. Not one to miss an opportunity new shoes were duly ordered. I’ve never considered going back to Sidi ever since we were supplied with Specialized body geometry shoes by Sideways Cycles back in 2001.

I’m not sure that I can live up to the expectations the shoes will rase, and they certainly won’t be that colour after 100 miles.

  1. Seconded.

They felt immediately comfy and were brilliant on the Kielder 100. The x-link closure system just snagged the edge of my cranks (Race Face Turbune LP) a couple of times on Saturday when I was tucking my heels in on technical riding, but never interrupted my pedal flow.

Having spent so long riding in dark shoes I kept catching sight of them at the edges of my vision and wondering what it was before realising “it’s my feet”. A few miles of muddy trail solved that, but I was told by a fellow racer that CIF foam works a treat on the pearlescent finish.

  2. I fell victim of mental arithmetic :)

I was going to write quite a long post on that later. I’m just getting my ‘iPod Memoire’ together.

  3. I saw your new shoes on your feet, they are nice shoes. There was one guy in bright white shorts, I laughed a bit when I saw him but he probably finished. :-(

  4. I know, I know. It’s still in draft.

I’ve been mad busy at work, designing and setting up a new website for a friend, *and* hunting season is about tostart so I’ve been overhauling *that* website, plus managing all their photo galleries, riding out to Southport for the airshow…

Maybe I’ll stay up late tonight and finish it after all the other web work I have to do this evening.

The iPod memoire bit is done at least.
